In my opinion, you should read THE AUSTRALIAN CONNECTION because it's written very easy and so it's fun because you don't have to look up every word in the dictionary while reading the book.
Of course, it's a very good story, as well.

Chapter nine & ten

The band's success decreases and they stop playing because two members became racists.
Alex keeps his promise in mind and returns to England. Dani moves also to London.
They set up a new band "The Dolphins" and become famous.
Alex and Dani celebrate New Year's Eve together.

Chapter seven & eight

Sorry, I cannot do these tasks because I haven't got the book any more. But I know, it's no excuse because I had to do them a few days ago.

Chapter six: Into the rain forest

My prediction: In my opinion, Alex will be very nervous when he meets his dad and maybe Alex won't know what he shall tell him. I think, later on when they got to know each other better, Alex will tell his father what he did all the time in Australia before meeting him. And then he will ask Tom why he had left him and his mum in London.

Evidence from the text: I was almost right with my prediction. They didn't talk a lot, it was just a small talk. Tom made some jokes, hoping the situation will be less embarrassing and to make Alex feel better (p.31 l. 18/19). But Alex was very angry because he wanted to know why Tom didn't send him a postcard at christmas (p.31 l. 23) and after that Tom didn't say anything about excusing himself (p. 31 l. 20).

Chapter five: The face in the crowd

1. How did you feel when you read that they hit the cow which stood too near to the road?

2. Dani and Alex wanted to tell the police what had really happened, but Joe didn't let them.
What's your opinion about it (that they lied to the police)?

3. What do you think about that Tom was in Sydney to see Alex playing at the concert and what do you think Alex felt as he saw his dad standing in the crowd?

Chapter four: The big decision

Alex and Dani have their first disagreement because Dani thinks it is sweet to watch the penguins "returning from the sea with a fish-supper for their babies" (p.24 l. 1/2) but Alex disagrees.
I thinkn the backround and the biggest reason for this little argument is that Alex thinks Dani is criticizing his dreams about the fame and that he just wants to be in the spotlight.

Chapter three: The island and the mountain

On top of St. Mary's Peak Kevin tells Alex that he was there once with tom and that Tom said he'd always wanted to be an astronaut and not to get married. But at this time he'd already been married an he had also a son: Alex.

When Alex realizes the meaning of Kevin's words he feels very angry and disappointed because his dad kept quiet about his son.

After all, Alex thinks "Let him see how he likes it" (p. 19/l. 21) because Tom arrives this evening at home and Alex won't be there to see him.
